The Monroe Historical Society is an all-Volunteer Non-Profit 501©3 Organization and is headquartered at 12 Elm Street, Monroe, Ohio 45050.  The purpose of The Society is to discover, collect, preserve, and interpret for public education and enjoyment of historical information and artifacts concerning the history of Monroe, Ohio.

We encourage historical research of publications, to support special historical commemorations and maintain public displays of historical interest.

To fulfill that purpose The Society will operate and maintain the Museum Building located at 10 E. Elm Street, the historical 1910 Building General Store at 2 E. Elm Street, and the reconstructed Pioneer Log Cabin located in the Monroe Community Park on South Main Street.

If you love the city of Monroe, if you love history, if you love being involved within your community, then we would love to hear from you as a possible volunteer.  There are many opportunities available for getting involved, including assisting with special events, decorating the 1910 Building’s window, assisting with archiving duties, and even becoming a Board of Directors member.
